'A Forja' / 'The Forge' is a non-profit, one man operated DIY label hailing from Portugal. All money earned through sales goes to the bands themselves and into my next releases. Any spare earnings are used to organise and promote gigs in Portugal.
The main objective is to work with active bands, either new ones or those that have persisted through time. I also strongly believe in live recordings, so I am going to release those regularly. I don't wish to do re-editions, but I will try to reissue lost and obscure demo recordings from Portuguese bands that were around in the '80s. Please see the RELEASES section for more information.
Release formats are mainly cassette and vinyl, but CD is also an option if needed. Editions are simple and to the point, as music is the most important. Regarding artwork, my personal preference is black and white, 'pen and ink' drawings.
Here you can also find a small mailorder list. Its a simple mailorder that relies purely on email for orders. I just want to distribute the music of underground bands at affordable prices.
